Welcome to Year 6
10th March 2022
Year 6 have been learning about Fair Trade for our Rainforest work this term. As part of our Design Technology project, they have spent the week designing and combining ideas on their ideal cookies using Fair Trade products. They wrote their own method, worked out the weight of the ingredients to be used and then measured accurately in groups. The class thoroughly enjoyed this project, working well together. I was particularly pleased with their honest evaluations. The whole school enjoyed the smell of cookies wafting through the corridors for the afternoon! Well done Year 6.

8th February 2022
Today, Year 6 demonstrated their knowledge of adaptation and evolution through their STEM skills. They were given the task of creating beaks that would be able to pick up seeds of differing sizes. This put into practice their ideas of how birds' beaks have adapted to suit the environment and availability of food, which we have een studying in our science lessons.
31st January 2022
Staff and children in Years 5 and 6 were pleased to welcome back Ben from Spirit of the Wild today. Ben brought in many of his wonderful animals to show the children and talk to them as part of their Topic and Science work. I was particularly impressed with how behaved the children were, even though they were all very excited! The chlidren learned about animal adaptations, as well as where in the rainforest these animals can be found.
What a great afternoon and lots of fun had by all.
Happy new year to you all

Elstree Film Festival
During the half term, three children from Year 6 were invited to participate in the Elstree Film Festival. Here they learned about a things 'film', including, writing, directing, acting and filming a short movie. The children enjoyed the experience, in particular, finding out about the things that go on behind the camera. Well done to Panos, Sam and Ansh for representing Ladbrooke so well and for a producing (alongside two other chidren from different schools) a fabulous, although slightly scary short film.
