Spring 2026

December 2025

We have had a busy month preparing for our KS1 Christmas show called 'The Stars are Coming out for Christmas'. We had lots of fun learning all the songs and we performed it brilliantly to the school and our parents, even though we were all feeling a little bit nervous! Here are some photographs from one of our performances:

We also enjoyed visiting the Winter Fair and playing all the games. We visited Santa in the Owl House, who amazed us with his magic!

Year 2 have had a fantastic start to the Autumn term.
We have been enjoying our art unit of work, learning all about portraits. We had lots of fub studying the features of our faces. We cut up photographs of ourselves and put our features in different places. We were amazed that we could still identify the person in each picture! Can you recognise the artists behind these self-portraits?
In English, we have been reading he text ' The Lonely Beast' written by Chris Judge. We have acted out a scene, thinking about characters feelings. We have also written a character description of the beast and a diary entry based on his long journey to the city to try and find a friend. We had fun writing some poems about the jellyfish he met along the way. We used expanded noun phrases, similes and alliteration to make our poems fun to read.
April 2025
This term our Geography topic has been about the journey of food from farm to fork. We have been learning about the different plants and animals you would find on the farm and what a farmer has to do to look after them. We had a great day out at Bolton's Park Farm working with the RVC students to learn how they help the farmers look after the chickens, sheep and cows. Here are some photographs of our day:
Year 2 had lots of fun making their own tasty salads linked to our 'Journey of Food' topic. We tasted some different salad ingredients (pomegranate seeds, olives, spring onion, radish, beetroot, celery, sweetcorn, carrot and cherry tomatoes) and picked which ones we wanted to include in our salads. The children then had to make their salad by peeling, grating, slicing, dicing and chopping the ingredients:

We have learning about the artist Vincent Van Gogh this half term. We practised drawing sunflowers from still life, then we drew our own vase of sunflowers in the same style as his artwork:
