Bird Houses

Year 1 had a fantastic time planning, designing and building their very own bird boxes—just in time for spring!

Armed with wood, glue and plenty of enthusiasm, the children pieced together six wooden panels, drilled a hole for the perch, and decorated their boxes in all sorts of colourful, creative ways.

They loved every minute of the project and can’t wait to take their bird boxes home and see if they get any visitors!

Mass and Volume

This term, Year 1 have been busy exploring mass and volume in maths!

The classroom turned into a mini science lab as the children used balancing scales to weigh all sorts of objects they could find. They also rolled up their sleeves, grabbed beakers and bowls, and got stuck into measuring the volume of water.

The children loved the hands‑on investigations and had great fun discovering which items were heavier, lighter, fuller or emptier.

World Book Day 2026!

Year 1 had an amazing time dressing up as their favourite characters for World Book Day!

The classroom was filled with superheroes, princesses, animals, wizards and so many brilliant book characters. The children loved showing off their costumes and sharing the stories behind them.

It was a colourful, creative and joy‑filled day celebrating our love of reading.

Year 1 Local Area Walk

As part of their Geography topic on the local area, Year 1 headed out on a lovely local walk.

The children were excited to explore the streets around our school, spotting familiar buildings, important places and all the little details they don’t always notice on the way in each morning.

It was a great chance for them to see their learning come to life and discover more about the community they’re part of.
