Year 3's Snow Globes

We have been working very hard this week making snow globes and they are looking fantastic! There is a winter picture on one side and a photo of us on the other. You can buy your child's snow globe for £2.50 payable through School Gateway. We hope that you like them as much as we do!

Welcome to Year 3.

To mark the end of our first topic ‘Footsteps Around the World’ we took part in an Aboriginal workshop. Our day started with an assembly where we listened to John playing the didgeridoo or the yidaki as it is otherwise known. We spent the morning designing and painting our own didgeridoos which look great and will soon be on display in the hall. In the afternoon, we learnt about many of the different animals found in Australia. We also learnt how to play the didgeridoo – which is very difficult! We had a great day and learnt a lot.

In English we have been looking at performance poems. We have read and performed many different poems and have written some of our own. One of our favourite poems was ‘Chocolate Cake’ by Michael Rosen. We have written our own versions of ‘Chocolate Cake’ about cupcakes, doughnuts, noodles and even pizza and have performed them in class.

As part of our topic 'In the Spotlight' years 3 and 4 went to the Hary Potter studios to see where and how the films were made. On the tour, we looked at props, costumes and special effects. It was a great day out and we learnt lots.

In English, we have been reading, performing and writing playscripts. One of our favourites to perform was Jack and the Beanstalk. We performed the play in small groups and came up with the idea of using our bodies to act as props. We hope you like some of the photos.
