Hello and welcome back after your weekend Year 4. I hope you had a good time with your family.
Your work today is multiplying by 1 and 0. Very often children make silly mistakes in their assessments because they forget the simple rules that go with both of these activities. So, on the worksheet today, you are asked to explain your reasoning.
If you want to challenge yourself, I have posted an extension which is all about multiplying by 10, 100 and 1000. If you can do 10 and 100, then you should be able to do 1000 also. Think? How many zeros does 1000 have, and you should be able to work it out. Some of your answers may have decimals in them, and this is something we will be covering further on in the year. But for now, all you need to know is that a decimal is a way of expressing something that is smaller than 1. Keep your sheep in order, Year 4 and you will be fine! There are 3 levels of challenge.
Today’s English lesson is all about finding words to describe the countryside. We are so lucky living where we do, as we are surrounded by beautiful countryside and also have parks that we can visit. Before Christmas there were some amazing sunsets, where the sky was filled with vibrant pink, turquoise, and darker grey colours. These were the focus of our dot paintings last term, so you should be able to draw on some of you own experiences for today’s lesson.
Our science topic for this half term is Forces. You will find the video link below for your learning today. There are quite a lot of new terms to learn, but remember you can pause and re-watch the video as many times as you need to.
This is a really great topic Year 4, and I’m sure you will enjoy it. Below is a link to BBC Bitesize which talks about pushes and pulls. It is a bit of fun with a quiz attached, which you might enjoy.
Have a great day learning Year 4 and I look forward to seeing your work later.
