Year 2

Wednesday 22nd April

You will find the maths and English for today on Monday's attacthment.

I hope that many of you managed to do some work drawing and/or labelling a map of the UK and the seas around it.

Today I have put a link to a sheet to record some other things about the UK. You could print the sheet or copy out a simple table to write your information in.

An extra challenge would be to find the name of a famous landmark and a flower or plant associated with each  country of the UK. you can research online or you can ask a grownup.

Table of information about the UK

As promised I will attach a map of the UK for you to print out and label if you are able to do this.

Slightly easier map of the UK

There are clues on the maps on the boxes around the maps to help you with this task, but you could also search online for maps to help you. Remember that it often helps to write Map or UK for children (or for kids) on your google search as this might give you maps that are easier to read and understand.

Well I hope that everything went well on Monday. The English and the maths work can all be found on the link for Monday.

I would also like you to revise the names of the countries and capital cities of the U.K. Remember there are four altogether. Can you remember where to find each one?

Can you also remember the names of the seas that surround the UK?

I will try to find a map that you can print and label later on this morning. If you can't print at home you could try drawing the map yourself. It doesn't have to be perfect. Just look at a map on line and see if you can draw a similar shape. You can then mark the countries the cities and seas.

Have a nice day

Mrs Trott

Hello Year 2,

This week's English

Letter for parents

I really hope that you managed to have lots of fun during the holidays. I managed to do quite a bit of gardening and quite a lot of reading so for me it was fun.  I have also been for lots of walks as part of my daily exercise. The Joe Wiicks exercise is a bit too much like hard work for me. I have really enjoyed my walks in the woods. For the first time in years I have really noticed trees getting their leaves and catkins, lots of different wild flowers, including my favourite, bluebells and I have seen lots of insects like bees and butterflies enjoying the sunshine and collecting nectar. I have had lots of visitors to my garden...not people because at the moment, they aren't allowed. Instead I have had blackbirds, robins, goldfinches, sparrows, blue tits and other birds. It's lovely to hear them singing. I wonder if any of you have noticed things from nature that you dont' normally notice?

Today I am going to put a link to this week's English. It has the lessons for every day of this week, but if it takes you a long time to complete the day's task you can take two days instead of 1. See how you go. Dont' be lazy but also don't think that you need to spend hours and hours on one piece of work.

I suggest that you do some more work from White Rose maths . I will put the links here for 3 weeks of work. I put the first two weeks up for the holidays so some of you will have already done it. If so, go straight on to Week 3. If you haven't done the first two weeks you should try to do these weeks first. I think that you can probably do at least two lessons each day from week 1. They shouldn't be too dfficult as we have covered the work before in school.

I will also attach a letter to your parents. I want to check with them how you are doing and if you are able to use the work that I am setting.

Have a good day

Mrs Trott

Weeks 3 & 4 - Easter Break

Well done, we've made it to the Easter Break. I won't be posting here every day but I thought it would be useful if I put a summary of some of the sites you could continue to use during the break if you want to.

Please make sure you do plenty of fun activities such as the ones suggested in your pack and others you can think of .

You might like to try this time capsule activity

Week 3 - Alphabet - Can you make an alphabet of animals?(make it trickier by sticking to just mammals if you like.)

Week 4 - Alphabet - Can you make an alphabet of food?

Please feel free to send me pictures of any activities you have done if you would like me to see them.

Happy Holidays

Friday 3rd April

Hello everyone. So we have reached the last day of the spring term.

Your English work today was included on yesterday's sheet and your maths work is to do the next of the Whiterose maths lessons. (See Tuesday's link for details)

I won't be posting individual lessons over the next two weeks. However, later today I will put some suggestions that you might wish to do if you are looking for ways to keep busy over the Easter break. Sadly, you won't be able to do all the things that you normally do in the holidays, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun. You just have to be creative and use your imagination.

I hope that you are all keeping well. It's very strange not to see you every day, but I have enjoyed seeing your work when your parents have sent me photographs of it. I'm very impressed that you are working hard and learning even when you can't come to school.

Happy Friday!
