Good Morning Year 4, I hope you’ve been able to enjoy some family time over the Easter period in the sunshine and are ready to get back to some learning!
In maths over the next few days we are going to be looking at symmetry. Follow the link below to find a short film clip which explains what symmetry is.
Then have a look at this video which takes symmetry further than just geometry!
Your task for today is to find things around the house that are symmetrical and take pictures of them. If you can, edit the picture and add a line to show where the line of symmetry is. If you can’t do this, then don’t worry, just so long as you understand where the line should go.
In English over the next two weeks, we will be telling the story of Red Riding Hood in a rhyming poem. You will watch a short animation of the story, complete a reading comprehension to make sure you all understand the story, then build up a timeline of events, create word banks, find rhyming words, understand how to set out verses and also remind yourselves about using speech marks. Your poem will need to include these as the characters will communicate with each other in the poem.
Later in the week I will be posting some poems which previous Year 4 children wrote, using the same format about the Cinderella story. These should help you with the format.
The animation can be found here:
Once you have watched it, watch it again and create a timeline of events. This can be a simple line, like the example on the link below.
Tomorrow I will post a completed timeline. Don’t worry if yours is not exactly the same, as you might choose to put different parts of the story into your poem.
I hope you enjoy doing today’s work and I look forward to seeing some symmetry pictures. If you would like me to look at your timeline too, then please feel free to send it to me.
Hope you have a god day and can enjoy some of the sunshine.
