In year 1 we have been learning about countries that are warm in December and countries that are cold. As a class we discussed what we like about the winter and what we like about summer. In the winter most children like it when it snows. This inspired us to make our own snow globe.
We then created a snow globe picture and spoke about what life would be like in a snow globe. Some children seemed keen to live in a snow globe others worried about where they would sleep or what they would eat.
The children created a background winter scene, then had to pose in a picture and pretend they are in the snow globe. The most exciting part was making the snow. We used instant snow powder and added a small amount of water to make the snow expand. These are the adjectives the children used to describe how the snow felt:
Fluffy, Cold, Wet, Weird, Soggy, Light, Soft
The children then wrote about what they would do if they lived in a snow globe. Here are some things the children have written.
If I lived in a snow globe I would build a big snow man. I would build a big tree with a star.
If I lived in a snow globe I would make a snowman. I would play all day. I would watch the stars.
If I lived in a snow globe I would build a snow man. He will wear a scarf, and a warm hat. I would decorate my Christmas tree in the snow.
If I lived in a snow globe I would build an igloo and a snow penguin and a snowman and a snow plane.
If I lived in a snow globe I would build an igloo and a house so I can have somewhere warm to sleep.
If I lived in a snow globe I would sleep in the snow and play with the snowman.
