History and Geography
Art and Design Technology
Our Creative Curriculum aims to incorporate all the objectives in the history, science, geography, art and DT national curriculum. Classes have paired up to create a two year rolling programme of topics and key identified skills are planned across the topics. Where subjects do not fit into the topics, e.g. PE, RE, French and occasionally science, these subjects are taught separately. Each topic is started with a launch activity and the outside areas are decorated to motivate and stimulate the children's interest in what they have been learning. At the end of the topic a finale is planned to highlight all the learning which has gone on during the term.
We have selected French as our modern foreign language. It is taught from year 3 to year six. A specialist French teacher takes the sessions each week and assesses their progress. We also offer lunchtime clubs in French for FS2 and KS1 and Spanish for KS2.
All children in each class follow a broad, balanced and integrated curriculum based on the National Curriculum.
Core subjects are English, Mathematics, Science, ICT (Information and communication technology) and Religious Education. Foundation subjects are History, Geography, Design and Technology, Art, Music, Physical Education and PSHCE (Personal, social, health and citizen education).
The Reception class follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
With all the changes to the curriculum and assessment snce September 2014, a parents meeting was held to inform parents how our curriculum has been developed and how we are assessing the children. Below is a slideshow of this presentation.
