When we arrived at 1.30pm, we were assigned two year ten pupils to help the children warm up and get ready. We then took to the pitch for our first match of six.  It was a great game, with the ball moving from end to end, but in the end we lost 1-0.  Our second match was a much different affair.  The children had worked out what they needed to do to perform better as a team and as a result of some great team play we won 7-0.  The next two games followed on in a similar way with wins in both matches and some great goals.

Our penultimate match was against Brookman’s Park and after a very close match they managed to sneak the winning goal in the dying seconds. We ended our tournament though with another fine win.  Once all the scores were in, it was discovered that we were joint second with Wroxham on points but they had the edge on goal difference so we had to settle for third place overall.

The children played with heart and determination all afternoon and there were some exceptional moments and some great goals. Layla and Grace scored her first ever goals for Ladbrooke, Robyn scored a hatrick in one match and there was some exceptional team play by the others to allow others to score.  I also witnessed one of the best pieces of play by Leah where she fought determinedly to keep the ball in play, ending up on the floor before regaining her feet, dribbling the ball, putting in a superb cross to Robyn who then finished in style!  Worth having no feeling in my fingers and toes to witness that one!

Very proud of them all! Well done to Molly, Ana, Grace, Suri, Issy, Layla, Leah (VC) and Robyn (C), the future is looking bright for the season ahead.
