After months of careful planning by the Friends of Ladbrooke and in particular Mrs Chandler and Ms Garnett, on Wednesday 6th October the circus finally came to town.
The week began with a cirus workshop in school where all the children spent time learning different circus skills, from plate spinning to juggling scarves. Each skill was much harder than we thought and we needed to show real resilience adn keep trying even when it seemed impossible. It certainly gave us a taste of things to come though and by Wednesday there was an air of excitement which was further fuelled by the arrival of the big top. The junior children watched from their playground as the massive tent was put up.
The gates opened for our sellout circus at 5pm, one hour before show time. Just enough time to by a programme, and try some of the delicious food on offer. There were also lots of circus themed toys to buy. Finally at 6pm, the audience were ready and waiting to greet Mr Happy, Pip and all the other performers. What we were not expecting was a surprise guest appearance of Spiderman, all the way from America. For the next hour and an half we were throughly entertained with jugglings, acrobats and fabuolus balancing acts.
The whole event was absolutely wonderful and the children (and adults) all had a fantastic time. The icing on the cake was the news that the event had raised over £3,000. Thank you to everyone who joined us on the evening and to Mrs Chandler, Mrs Garnett and the team who made it such a brilliant event.
