Good morning again Year 4. Hope you are all well and that you managed to do some exciting vocabulary work yesterday.

English

Today’s focus on the English work is spelling. There are some words for you to learn that link with the story, but importantly, there are tips for learning spelling in general, so these could help you with the weekly spelling focus.

Additionally, I have posted here the Y3/4 challenge cards so that you can start working on your card. If you can’t remember which card you are on, ask an adult to test you on the red card and work your way through. If any of you require the Y5/6 cards, let me know and I will post them for you. (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

If you want to challenge yourself you can write your own sentences with the focus words from the story.

Maths

Today we are going to look at a different type of graph – a line graph. Have a look at this explanation on BBC bitesize. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/guides/zrg4jxs/revision/3

Also note, on the y axis (vertical,) there is a zig-zag at the beginning. This is to show you that although the scale starts at zero, some measures have been missed out. In this particular graph, there is no point in having the numbers below 18 shown as they do not appear in the data.

Check out this short film clip which explains how to read line graphs. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=line+graph+ks2+animation&&view=detail&mid=A503126A447AFE311433A503126A447AFE311433&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=%2Fvideos%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dline%2Bgraph%2Bks2%2Banimation%26FORM%3DHDRSC3

There are 3 challenges of work today, all based on line graphs.
